For FW26, 247 built its winter outer system with Polartec®, the US performance-fabric mill behind some of the most trusted technical materials in the industry.
The brief was simple: weather protection that performs like race kit and feels nothing like plastic.
Three Polartec® technologies carry the range. The power Shield jacket blocks the weather, The power dry tshirts manage sweat from the skin, and The power gillet holds warmth without the weight.
Tested on 247 Athletes:
- Jake Dearden has trained in the outer layer for the past year. He puts it plainly:
"Waterproof, windproof, rainproof, everything proof."
He'll wear it down to zero degrees and still reach for it in summer, because it isn't heavy or thick, it packs down easily, and it keeps the weather out either way.
Head 247 Designer Thom says - "It's one of their more premium fabrics. You've got the 10K waterproof rating and it's windproof, but on top of that it's buttery and soft. Quiet and technical
Polartec® Alpha is active insulation built for stop-start effort, the kind of warmth that holds when you're moving slow and vents when you push.
Lofted fibres over a mesh core trap heat while staying breathable, and the fabric is hydrophobic, fast-drying and packs down to nothing.
It was originally developed for the US military, for exactly this problem: staying warm without overheating the moment the pace changes.
The forward shoulder seams and underarm gussets built for movement, a grid-knit neck instead of a rib, and a bonded power-mesh 247 logo on the back that vents where you heat up and reads as a semi-translucent mark when you move.
The fit is the classic 247 cut, shared with DNA, cropped by a couple of centimetres.
